Practice filming and editing

This is the first video we made as a group. We were given a task to film ourselves asking "what are you doing here?" to practice our filming and editing skills for our preliminary task. There were three people involved in this talk we all took turns recording and being in the video because we got asked to do this task in three different locations then choose our favourite.Me and Laura featured in the video and Eve recorded however we all contributed to ideas.

The first shot we used was a extreme long point of view shot to show the whole character and the setting in the video, this helps the viewer to understand the character and her background. By using the point of view shot it makes it easier for the audience to interact with the a character because she is walking towards them. The camera is based on the other side of the window this shows she is walking into a building. As she walks towards the door we used a an extreme close-up of the girl pressing a button to open the door,This shows added detail and what she is doing, this may also help tell the story. The next shot is a close-up of the character opening the door .After this we are shown a new character in a long shot showing the whole character and a bit of the area around her. After a couple of seconds the shot changed into an over the shoulder shot of the character you met before. This shows that they are having a conversation.

One of the things we decided we would do differently is making it flow better because it comes across as a bit jumpy, this is because we go from one shot to another too quickly.Another thing we would like to change is when people start talking,we found that the speaking came to quickly into the shot, we should of left a small gap between starting to record and speaking. If we could correct these thing our contingency would come across much better. You can also hear the camera and noises around us which weren't supposed to be picked up,this would draw the audience away and looks unprofessional, the same with the sturdiness of the camera, however in the real thing we will have equipment such as tripods to keep it more stables and balanced.Lastly when filming should of filmed the girl walk over to the other character sitting down , rather than her just appearing there.
